I'm taking part in NaNoWriMo, but I'm not doing it very well. I've gotten the first couple of thousand words down, but haven't gotten much further. It is a bastardisation of a fairy-tale crossed with semi-futuristic world that I can't imagine anyone liking except for myself, but first I have to write it.
In the paper the other day, I came across an editorial piece that was heavily against NaNoWriMo, saying that surely it is more important for people to be creative readers than writers, and that this project was more about people wallowing in their own 'creative' self than becoming more worldly. I can sort of see where that person is coming from, but I think the mistake they are making is that people write in isolation, doing nothing else, which cannot be true of everyone.
So now this blog has at least one entry. Hooray.
